New sentence for Yurush Mehralibeyglou; his combined sentences now exceed 13 years

Yurush Mehralibeyglou, an Azerbaijani political activist serving his sentence in Tabriz Central Prison, has been sentenced in a new case to 3 years and 7 months of discretionary (ta'zir) imprisonment.

According to the information received, the ruling was issued in connection with charges including "propaganda against the system" and "incitement of people to protest and calling for war and killing".

Mr Mehralibeyglou was arrested in Tabriz in Dey 1404 (December 2025 – January 2026) and, after more than three months of interrogation, was transferred to the city's Central Prison. He had previously been sentenced in another case to 9 years and 9 months of ta'zir imprisonment.

With the new ruling, Yurush Mehralibeyglou's combined sentences have risen to 13 years and 4 months of ta'zir imprisonment.
