Zahra Naghshineh, a Turk citizen, lawyer and member of the East Azerbaijan Bar Association, was arrested by security forces after appearing at Branch 15 of the investigation unit of the Tabriz Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor's Office, and has been taken to an unknown location.
According to informed sources, the lawyer went to Branch 15 on Wednesday 9 September 2026 (18 Shahrivar 1405) to give explanations after receiving an official summons. After she appeared at the judicial body, security forces arrested her.
The charge written on Zahra Naghshineh's summons was "lack of a criminal description". Even so, according to a report by the Tabriz Intelligence Office, a case has been opened against her in connection with her professional and guild activities in the field of women's rights and legal matters.
Zahra Naghshineh has been active in the Women's Commission and the Secretariat for Preventing Violence against Women at the East Azerbaijan Bar Association, and over the past years has been involved in defending women's rights and in legal and civil activity.
The continued detention of this lawyer, without clear information about where she is held, the specific charges or the legal status of the case, has heightened concern about respect for her legal rights and her access to a lawyer and her family.
